Our Destiny.... is Life!

"People often meet their destiny on the road they take to avoid it." ~French Proverb
weeklyshack.com
The universe has a way of sending us the exact right experiences that we need to grow and move forward.  Our challenge is to embrace these experiences and be open to their lessons and their power.
So much has happened in my life; and as I progress though and grow personally, I can now see a lesson in almost every challenge I've encountered.  I believe that destiny really is a predetermined course of events that are beyond human power or control.
"When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not ready.  The challenge will not wait.  Life does not look back.  A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny." ~Paulo Coulho

Accepting Challenges

Lushpix Illustration
I work for a community collage and my youngest son just started his second year of Culinary school.  So a new school year has started for both of us this week and our fall routine is quickly taking shape.

One of the values of education is experiencing new things that often take us out of our comfort zones.   Creating situations where we challenge ourselves.

Every year my sons and I continue to be challenged in both school and life.  Taking each 'challenge' that comes our way, accepting it, learning from each one and growing in many ways.

So this is a perfect time to share another Great post by my friend Mark Ford; adding a little of my own input and favorite quotes.
“Accept the challenges so that you may feel the exhilaration of victory.” ~ General George S. Patton
Now from Mark Ford @ FFG Consulting, LLC

Many times we get "comfortable" in our lives and forget what helped us get to where we are in life.

Only recently did I begin to realize that the key thing that has helped me grow in my personal and professional life is challenge.  It could have been a challenging situation that caused me to learn a new skill or to step outside my comfort zone.  Many times those situations presented themselves through work or involvement in other organizations, and I was "forced" to step up and meet the challenge - and to grow.

I work with many people who have forgotten that many times those "challenges" in their lives helped them grow too. We all tend to get comfortable with who we are and with what we have in life - and may even work now to avoid challenge and change.  I work with many of my clients to recognize that if they want to continue growing in their personal and professional development that they need to begin challenging themselves.

This week:

If you've lost a bit of the "fire" in your life as far as your passion for the direction in your life, challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone a bit and begin associating with people who might force you to stretch or to think about life in new and exciting ways.  As John Maxwell says, "Passion is contagious. Get around some people who can infect you."
Make it a GREAT week!

"Passion is contagious. Get around some people who can infect you." ~ John Maxwell
This quote is such good advice.  I learned last year what a great influence it is to be around positive people who accept challenges and have passion for what they do in life.  First by hearing a speaker named Silver Rose in November.  At the end of a great presentation from a woman who has accepted challenges in her life and made her life Awesome.  She asked her audience "Who's life is Awesome?"  No one raised their hand.  She then said, "Well why not?  Life is too short to Not to be Happy and have the life you dream of!  She was absolutely right!

Soon after that I met an amazing person who has real passion for his career and life.  He accepts challenges everyday with a positive, upbeat attitude.  He inspires me to go outside my comfort zone and follow my own passions and dreams.

These people changed my life forever!  I can never thank them enough.  I hope I can inspire and encourage others to follow their hearts, pursue their dreams and most of all to be Happy!

"Find your passion, accept challenges and make your life Awesome!"

Goal Challenge for this Week

Goal Challenge from my friend, Mark Ford @ http://www.ffgroupconsulting.com/

"Learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning."
- Albert Einstein

Goals Focus:

The day you stop growing and learning is the day you put a lid on your potential. Some feel they've reached a point in their life or their career where they can't afford to make any mistakes. Teddy Roosevelt said, "He who makes no mistakes, makes no progress." Stay hungry for knowledge. Stay hungry for personal growth. The key is to learn from any mistakes you might make.

Your Challenge:

Challenges change us for the better. Challenges force us to stretch out of our comfort zone to learn something new or to muster up courage we never knew we possessed. This week...try something new. Make a new "challenge" part of your daily routine. Learn from it. Grow from it!

I borrow these from a good friend who emails them out on most Monday mornings. They are posted, as all of my postings, to be shared! :-)

I thought of what I am going to Challenge myself to do this week. I know someone whom I want to talk to about something very important regarding the direction I want to go in my life. I've been afraid at what the response maybe. However, if I do this it will bring me to another level in my self-confidence and self-esteem. No matter what the reaction is, it will not change my dreams or plans. Ignoring negative or critical comments is the first step in overcoming the fear of doing something completely new and exciting. :-)

Have a GREAT week!
