Half Full & Aloha Friday!

"The grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for." - Allan K. Chalmers
Half Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eye Girl originally started in June 2009.  Now the it is hosted by Sprinkles at Wyldechylde.  We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us. So by participating, we are deciding to see the glass as half full, instead of half empty. We are choosing to concentrate on the positives, instead of dwelling on the negatives. Our Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that. They are a list of the things in our life that have brought us happiness over the past week. We are determined to find the something good in every day. Are you?
"Nothing can stop the person with the right mental attitude from achieving their goal; nothing on earth can help the person with the wrong mental attitude." ~ Thomas Jefferson
For the next week, we challenge you to keep a list of at least one thing that brought you happiness each day.
"Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed." - Storm Jameson
This is what I'm Happy for this week:
  • I'm happy for the strength and wisdom to deal with 3 negative people very gracefully this week!
  • I'm happy that my son's Culinary Dinner is this Saturday!
  • I'm happy our 'After Hours' Event went wonderfully!
  • I'm happy for the positive energy I feel almost all the time now!
  • I'm happy for lots of 'troop' donations for our 'Fill the Hummer' drive!
"You can never be happy at the expense of the happiness of others." - Chinese Proverb

It's also "ALOHA FRIDAY" Everyone!!  If you want to join in the fun? Post your own question on your blog and leave your link at the Aloha Friday post at An Island Life. Then you can visit the other participants if you wish...It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends or see what people are thinking about this week and join in a conversation or two if you like.
"Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give." - Eleanor Roosevelt
My question:  What would you do if you won the lottery?

My answer:   I would buy a restaurant for my youngest son to manage.  Only hiring young people that need someone to believe in them... for a chance to succeed!
"Unless we think of others and do something for them, we miss one of the greatest sources of happiness." - Ray Lyman Wilbur

  1. get into a whole lotta trouble...just saying...smiles.

  2. cong on your mom retiring. that's a sweet and loving idea to help your son if you won the lottery. take care. rose

  3. If I won the lottery I would pay off all my bills, give half of my winnings to my son and his family and remodel my house!! Whew!! That all would be so much fun...and so unbelievable!!! Here's hoping!!

  4. That's great you'd do that for your son.
I'm happy it's been a peaceful week so far.

  5. Hadn't given the lottery much thought, I guess I would continue in my present patterns, with a little more elegance.Have a good weekend Coreen.

  6. Enjoyed as usual, I'm happy I am reaonably well as also my family.

    Have a great week-end.

  7. First off I do not play the lottery game. Now to your question. If I came into a great deal of money , I would first buy a plot and build the church for a local Mission church, Meeting at this time at a school. Then I would put the rest in the bank for at least a year. And live off the interest for the rest of my life.
    My Friday Question to you

  8. I love all your 'happy'! :)

I'd donate money to charities that are near and dear to my heart, then I'd travel - maybe buy an island in the Caribbean! :)

    Aloha Follow: Goody Bags

  9. I like the chineese proverb. I think I'll have my children commit it to memory!! :)

  10. We'll i'd probably freak out at first. I'd pay off our debt, tithe to the church, donate to some of our favorite charities, travel, get a house, ect.

  11. I gotta be honest, I'd buy a house. Like right this very minute!

  12. Gosh. Probably not tell anyone.

    Have a great Friday!

  13. I wish I could do that with negative people :)

    Winning the lottery....I'd become a philanthropist. :D
Jules @ Trying To Get Over The Rainbow

  14. When I win the lottery (i know i will!) ...
I'd do income property both here in the US and in the Philippines for my family there and I'd send my kids to the best schools.

  15. Love your thoughts today... Congrats to your Mama's retirement. If she is like me, she will LOVE it.

I would never win the lottery because we don't 'play' the lottery--or buy any tickets... Oh WELL.... However, IF I came into ALOT of money, I'd be selfish... I would buy a log cabin on top of a mountain somewhere....

  16. I enjoyed reading the quotes you posted.

Here is one of my favorite Bible quotes:

    Matthew 6:31-33
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

    God bless you, ~Ron

  17. I know for a fact that I'd buy a home for my mother. I've always wanted to do that.

    I love these quotes.

    Lovely post.

  18. Coreen I would love nothing more than to see you win the lottery!!~ You sure had a lot to be happy about this week!!~ Have a wonderful time Saturday.

  19. The lottery?? It boggles my mind!! Help out our kids and the church, probably.

  20. Eyegirl isn't blogging at Life As I See It anymore, she's decided to focus on her photography blog instead. I've taken over hosting of Half Full Friday. I hope you'll join me!

Sounds like you've had an excellent week! I'm glad you're feeling a postive energy almost all the time now. I am too and I think it's because I have a plan for my future now.

I love what you'd do with the funds from your lottery winnings. Everyone needs someone to believe in them at one time or another.

  21. Oops, make that "Life as Eye See It"

  22. Love your list as always, wow you dealt with 3 negative people!

  23. I would buy 3 houses - one for my mom, one for my dad and one for me. I would also donate 1 million each to 3 local charities I love.

  24. I'm a winner each week however, because the money I would have spent on tickets, I keep in my wallet!

Now IF I'd come into a lot of money, I would definitely sit down with hubby and jot down all the people we would want to help. It would have to be God's work and our kids and grand kids. It's not good to just hand people money, but to work things out with them so that they are helped for a long time. Lots of wisdom needed for such decisions. We'd continue living like we always did.

  25. Loved you list! I'd give college scholarships to worthy students! Lots of them!!

Thank you for stopping by! I would LOVE your comments!
