Moving On with Your Life

"You are responsible for your life. You can't keep blaming somebody else for your dysfunction. Life is really about moving on." ~Oprah Winfrey

"To be able to move on, one has to learn to forgive not only the person (or people) who have done one wrong but also oneself." ~Eugenia Tripputi
Like everyone else, I've made numerous mistakes in my life.  I've let people get to me, take advantage of me, and I accepted way less than I deserved both in treatment and respect.
However, I've learned from each of those experiences, including the bad choices that I've made... but learned from.  Mostly because I have taken responsibility for my actions and my own life, instead of making excuses or blame someone else (at least I try not to).
So even though there are some things I can never get back and people who will never be sorry, I will know better next time to be more cautious.  With my recent move I have made a vow to myself, that from now on I will not settle for anything less than what I deserve in both life and love.  To me, that is truly moving on with your life. :-)

  1. This is very much the way I feel, we all get taken for granted and gets dirt thrown in ones face in life but if we can learn from that then we know how not to make that same mistake again.Strange, when I was married I had the comfort and support of a dear husband, the children were always coming by, the neighbours always popping around, then my husband passed away, didn't see so much of the children and grandchildren, the neighbours seemed to look the other way, But I have come to the conclusion that perhaps they felt awkward.
I have picked myself up and know what I want out of life even though one son has given up on me ,but I know one day the phone will ring and it will be him, until that day I am carrying on living my life.

  2. I have learned that in order to move forward, I must first forgive myself for the wrong decisions and actions that I've made over the years. And let me tell you that when I did that, it was like a burden had been released from me. Now I am much happier and I've learned to truly love, appreciate and celebrate me. And life is so much better.

Congratulations on your recent move. A new day has begun. Enjoy it to the fullest.

  5. The joy of the Lord is my strength for each new day and I won't let the devil steal and destroy this joy that is mine! No more walls to hide behind - I have good and firm fences with a gate to allow for love, respect, appreciation and fellowship with those who God sends into my life. Good post Coreen!

  7. A very thought-provoking post. Holding on to past hurts does no one any good. We all have to let go of them, even though it is painful to do so.

  11. There are so many things I wish I could let go of and one of them is this outlook I have about my weight. I'm learning to stop seeing myself as ugly, but it is hard considering that is what I heard most of the time growing up. I realize that I have let other people in my head for so long that now it's time to kick them out and really see myself.

  12. And anyone trying to climb over that wall to get to you, I got your back. Shotgun still loaded. :)

But hey, I do have a few mistakes I will blame the universe on, no way am I taking credit. :)
