Half Full Friday & Aloha Friday weekly question

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." -Melody Beattie
Half Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eye Girl originally started in June 2009.  Now the it is hosted by Sprinkles at Wyldechylde.  We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us. So by participating, we are deciding to see the glass as half full, instead of half empty. We are choosing to concentrate on the positives, instead of dwelling on the negatives. Our Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that. They are a list of the things in our life that have brought us happiness over the past week. We are determined to find the something good in every day. Are you?
"Happiness held is the seed; happiness shared is the flower." ~Author Unknown
For the next week, we challenge you to keep a list of at least one thing that brought you happiness each day.

My question:  What is the craziest thing you ever did to get someone the 'perfect' gift?

My answer:   I camped out ALL night in front of a Target store for the release of the Xbox when it first came out for my middle son's birthday.  There were over 100 people when the store opened and Only 10 X-box units.  I was 3rd in line.  So glad the store handed out the 10 vouchers to us... and sent everyone else away... before unlocking the doors at 6am that morning.  No 'rushing' the store, fighting or injuries.

This was many years ago.  I made some new friends that night and had a good time.  However, I realize now just how dangerous that was and would never do it today.  I have to add though, that my son was so surprised and very appreciative.  He still remembers that present!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

  3. A good selection of quotes, happiness can be found in the simplest ways. Many go out of bounds hoping to have it even more when it was right there.

This must be your day, a shop until you drop kind of day.Once I went out at 5am to get to a sale and saw a short line, so I was relieved I had made it. When I casually walked over, what I didn't notice was the line went around the corner of the store and down for almost a block. LOL I stayed with the hard cores. When the goings get tough, the tough go shopping.

  4. The craziest thing I think I've done for a gift is just spend too much money....I can't think of anything. Of course, in about an hour, a memory is gonna pop into my head that would have qualified as crazy...

I'm glad all your children will be home at Christmas!

    Have a great weekend!

  9. Yes, Yvonne is a sweetie. Hooray for the boys coming home :)

My craziest thing for a gift? Bought the ugliest statue I could find and gave it to my niece. It now is a tradition. Someone different gets the statue for one year. It has become a real laugh getter :D

  10. Gosh, did you bring a tent, I hope the weather was good!! I had a painful biopsy and the anesthetic didn't work. I could barely walk, but I left the doctor's office and went straight out to shop because I had seen a great gift for my daughter-in0law earlier and I wanted to buy it before it was sold out!

  11. That's really sweet of you to camp out for a gift for your son. I've never done that for a gift but I have done it for concert tickets when I was younger. It was actually a lot of fun.

I'm so happy and excited for you that all 3 of your sons will be there to cel

  14. I always enjoy your Friday posts.;) I have no kids and spend my Christmas (and have done so for almost 20 years) with good friends, thus my holidays have very little focus of gift giving, thankfully.;))
Have a lovely weekend dear Coreen,
    xoxo

  18. I hope that you had a really good Thanksgiving weekend! I don't think I've ever done anything crazy for a gift. I'm just grateful when I know that what I am giving is something that the recipient will really appreciate.
