Half Full Friday!!!

“He who has not learned to share his blessings with others has not found the true path to enduring happiness.  HAPPINESS comes from sharing one’s self and one’s blessings.  All riches are multiplied by the simple process of sharing them where they may serve others.” ~Anonymous
Half Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eye Girl originally started in June 2009.  Now the it is hosted by Sprinkles at Wyldechylde.  We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us. So by participating, we are deciding to see the glass as half full, instead of half empty. We are choosing to concentrate on the positives, instead of dwelling on the negatives. Our Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that. They are a list of the things in our life that have brought us happiness over the past week. We are determined to find the something good in every day. Are you?
"Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort." ~Franklin Roosevelt

"True inner joy is self - created.
It does not depend on outer circumstances.
A river is flowing in and through you carrying the message of joy.
This divine joy is the sole purpose of life." ~Sri Chinmoy
Have a beautiful and happy weekend, Everyone!!

Art Gallery Exhibit: Autism is Not a Disease

March 9, 2012
My son Matthew with his project on Autism

Display depicts the inside of a child with Autism's mind.
'Without it I'm paralyzed by anxiety."
"With it I'm paralyzed by apathy."
Matthew's Project Display; 1 of 20 at the show.
Hello everyone!  We just returned from this event in Chicago and wanted to post some pictures right away and share the awesome message my son, Matthew, had in his exhibit.  I had no idea what his was about until that day and could not be more proud of his display, his message, his talent and most of all his intelligent and heart!!  His younger brother, with a mild form of Autism, was extremely touched.

I will be posting more pictures from the exhibit later this week.   There were over 20 from my son's classmates at the Chicago Institute of Art, also on display.   Amazing talent of varying types were there!

Making Mistakes... and learning from them.

"The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one." ~Elbert Hubbard, The Note Book, 1927

"The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing." ~John Powell
Several years ago I realized that I seemed to keep making the same mistakes in my life over and over.  So I decided to first understand why I made the choices I did, then admitting my mistakes in order to heal and grow.

Then I started getting advice from people I admired, trust and looked to; because I didn't want to make more mistakes; especially in my personal relationships.

Most of the advice and insight was very good for me because it focused on the truth about both myself and the people around me.  Helping me to become strong enough to reject negative influences and to set higher standards for the people I now allow in my life.

The downside to having insight is that knowledge changes things... both positive and negatively.  What I mean is that somethings we shouldn't know because it changes our actions, reactions and the direction we take in our lives.  Knowledge effects our choices both good and bad.

I've recently learned that even with insight, understanding and knowledge; that I still make mistakes.  We all do.  However it's how we accept our mistakes; learn from them and become a better person from being honest with ourselves... that matters most in our journey through life.
"A man should never be ashamed to own when he has been in the wrong, which is but saying ... that he is wiser today than he was yesterday." ~Alexander Pope, in Swift, Miscellanies

Finally time for Half Full Friday! :-)

“There are some people that see the half full cup and get upset about where the other half of the cup went… With an attitude like that, they will never be happy.  I see a half full cup and I immediately fill up the rest with gratitude.”

“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.  Life is a beauty, admire it.  Life is a dream, realize it.  Life is a challenge, meet it.  Life is a duty, complete it.  Life is a game, play it.   Life is a promise, fulfill it.  Life is sorrow, overcome it.  Life is a song, sing it.  Life is a struggle, accept it.   Life is a tragedy, confront it.  Life is an adventure, dare it.  Life is luck, make it.  Life is life, fight for it.” ~Mother Teresa

What we Overcome... Helps Us Grow

"The word 'crisis' is from the Greek, meaning 'a moment to decide.' The recurrent moments of crisis and decision when understood, are growth junctures, points of initiation which mark a release from one state of being and a growth into the next." ~Jill Purce

"Even the most daring and accomplished people have undergone tremendous difficulty.  In fact, the more successful they became, the more they attributed their success to the lessons learned during their most difficult times.  Adversity is our teacher.  When we view adversity as a guide towards greater inner growth, we will then learn to accept the wisdom our soul came into this life to learn."~Barbara Rose

We always have HOPE...

"Learn from yesterday, Live for today, Hope for tomorrow." ~Albert Einstien

Never Let Go Of Hope
One day you will see that it all has finally come together.
What you have always wished for has finally come to be.
You will look back and laugh at what has passed and you will ask yourself,
"How did I get through all of that?"
Just never let go of hope.
Just never quit dreaming.
And never let love depart from your life.
~ Jancarl Campi ~
