"Life makes no guarantees as to what you'll have. It just gives you time to make choices and to take chances and to discover whatever secrets might come your way." ~ Deanna Beisser

It’s Never Too Late to Make a Change
Don’t expect others to be responsible for your happiness and your success. You must take control and be in charge of your destiny and day-to-day situations. Take advice (most of the time it’s free!) and listen to what others have to say and what concerns they have; it’s important to have different points of view. But always validate those words of wisdom with your own set of standards and make sure that the advice has meaning to your sense of reality.
You must understand yourself enough to know what you want in life and what desires you believe are worthwhile for your future. You need to depend upon yourself and your talents. Appreciate others for their personal skills and abilities, but always continue to focus on your own strengths and energies. Life is much too short to spend it worrying about someone else’s accomplishments or expecting someone else to be responsible for making your life better.
If you have dreams, then you have a purpose. You have something to believe in and work toward obtaining. Dedicate yourself to yourself. Promise yourself a life filled with love, and then whatever roads you travel will be the roads you want them to be.

Good Morning COreen! When I saw this title I thought you sold your house. I totally agree with these words. Positive changes are oh so good, and you can only thank yourself for them!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, just what I needed today as I'm feeling very down in the dumps. My sister is someone who expects the world to pick up the pieces and I think she should read this post, too.
ReplyDeleteTake care and have a great day.

You're right - we're the ones in control!
ReplyDeleteI read many years ago that we are sole responsible for our own lives, we can listen to advice from others but at the end of the day the decsions are entirely our own.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Control, I don't like anything to have control over me, guess that is why I stay in the parking lot :)
ReplyDeleteI do have to do this, take control, believe in my talents and move forward.

Sometimes it seems unclear as to what the best way is to make a change. In order to change, we have to do something different. But what should that different thing be? Obviously, one reason we haven't been doing it all along is because it hasn't clearly ocurred to us. But looking for change, searching our souls for opportunities and then taking them, is a good place to start. Change is good. The earth goes through major changes every single season. It's a great metaphor and reminder that we need to change and grow, too!
ReplyDeleteEvery time you make a change you hope it's for the best, don't you? How many times do we say, "with hindsight...."? That's why all decisions for change must come from ourselves.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, that 20/20 hindsight. Too bad we can't have it at the foresight. :)
ReplyDeleteI made peace with I make the best decisions I know how at the time. They weren't always the best, but they got me to here. Here is pretty darn OK.
Even more important is to pray and ask God what HE wants our direction to be, and that may not be whe WE want, but he will always work it to our good if we follow his leading, he has great plans for our future,
ReplyDeleteI thought you were moving! You are right - no one can made or chose the decisions for you and you can't change anyone else.
ReplyDeleteHi Coreen, When I decided to leave Texas (and my family) and head back to Tennessee, little did I know that God had a plan for me. People thought I was nuts taking a job in an area where I didn't know ANYONE.... Kinda Scary!!!! But--I felt God calling me there. Now I know why.... God was also calling George there... We met and married... That was a huge change!!!!
