"Don't rely on someone else for your happiness and self worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can't love and respect yourself - no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are - completely; the good and the bad - and make changes as YOU see fit - not because you think someone else wants you to be different.” ~ Stacey CharterHalf Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eye Girl originally started in June 2009. Now the it is hosted by Sprinkles at Wyldechylde. We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us. So by participating, we are deciding to see the glass as half full, instead of half empty. We are choosing to concentrate on the positives, instead of dwelling on the negatives. Our Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that. They are a list of the things in our life that have brought us happiness over the past week. We are determined to find the something good in every day. Are you?
"Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared." ~Buddha quote
For the next week, we challenge you to keep a list of at least one thing that brought you happiness each day.
I'm Happy and Thankful for many things; especially this week:
- That my oldest son and his classmates arrived in the Dominican Republic safely! Praying they have wonderful learning experiences while helping people!
- For a very nice visit with some family last weekend!
- For the fourth annual World Autism Awareness Day on Saturday April 2, 2011!
"A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes."~Hugh Downs
It's also "ALOHA FRIDAY" Everyone!! If you want to join in the fun? Post your own question on your blog and leave your link at the Aloha Friday post at An Island Life. Then you can visit the other participants if you wish...It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends or see what people are thinking about this week and join in a conversation or two if you like.
"Positive anything is better than negative thinking." ~Elbert HubbardMy question: How do you deal with negative people?
My answer: I smile, point out something positive from the situation or change the subject to something light. Most people get the hint. :-)

Happy Friday dear Coreen.;) I so enjoyed all the quotes here today, love the candle one particularly.;)
ReplyDeleteAs for negative people and how I deal with them, I do as you - but if that doesn't help, I stay away from them.;)
Enjoy your day dear friend,
xoxo
Happy April!!! Unbelievable...it is April already!!??!! With negative people, I try to bring forth the positive as well. But some are stuck there; actually enjoying the negativity...those I leave alone and stay away from. Life is too short to be negative even for a second!!!!!

LOL, just the other day I had to deal with a negative friend. I got tired of the negativity and just threw negatives back at them in rapid fire. When they asked, "What's up with you?" I said nothing just wanted to see you smile. Tis true 2 negatives DO make a positive :)
ReplyDeleteJules @ Trying To Get Over The Rainbow
you know, i try not to hang with it....we all have bad days though and if you can got to the source of their struggle you can not only gian but give perspective...
ReplyDeleteSo glad your son made it safely! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm like you - I try to point out the positive of whatever negative the person is talking about, or change the subject...which results in them getting the hint. ;)
Aloha: April Fools!
I am happy for your son going to different places! I hope he stays safe and his trip will be fulfilling.
ReplyDeletePeople with negative situations or feelings, I deal with them with words of encouragement and by listening. Sometimes they just need to vent and need someone to listen to them.
But negative people, those who had nothing to say but gossips, putting down other people, ranting on their own lives, and all the negatives stuffs, - I avoid them!
I think good choices make for good outcomes.
ReplyDeleteI am blog hopping today and I am happy to stop by your blog!!

I am a topic changer or I just avoid them
ReplyDeleteIf it's just a negative situation then like you I try to find the positive. If they are negative person sort of like being around Eeyore I avoid them.
ReplyDeleteI am happy with your happiness list!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy April. I've always said that happy is a choice. I choose happy!!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless ya and have a fantastic weekend sweetie!!!
It does no good to tell them they are negative or try to get them to change, they are what they are. I just smile, try to bee cheerful and upbeat, and hope some of it will rub off on them!!
ReplyDeleteGlad your son made it safely. Now for a wonderful adventure!
ReplyDeleteIf I know a person is just venting and just want someone to listen, then it's alright, but that's all there is everytime we talk, I redirect the conversation to other topics.
Enjoy your weekend Coreen!
I love this positive blog! Sometimes it is hard when you are around someone negative a lot... AND sometimes negative people are annoyed by positive people. Go figure. I think Ginny is right, just smile and be positive hoping it will rub off.
ReplyDeleteThere's a girl at work that always looks at the 'grey clouds' instead of looking at the rainbow. I usually just shrug my shoulders and walk away. Life is too short to always be in a 'downer' don't you think?
ReplyDeleteHooray for your son having a safe trip!
Happy April Coreen!
xo Catherine
PS ~ I really like your new profile photo!! What a beautiful smile you have friend!
I try to avoid them. If I can't then I try to remember that negative people are usually just unhappy with their lives. Life is too short.
ReplyDeleteits always positive here, thats why so many readers come xx
ReplyDeleteI always try to be a glass half full person. Even in my worst moments, there is always someone out there who has it worse than I do. I am so blessed!
