Half Full & Aloha Friday Question!

"No one is in control of your happiness but you; therefore, you have the power to change anything about yourself or your life that you want to change." ~- Barbara de Angelis
Half Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eye Girl originally started in June 2009.  Now the it is hosted by Sprinkles at Wyldechylde.  We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us. So by participating, we are deciding to see the glass as half full, instead of half empty. We are choosing to concentrate on the positives, instead of dwelling on the negatives. Our Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that. They are a list of the things in our life that have brought us happiness over the past week. We are determined to find the something good in every day. Are you?
"Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it." ~-Groucho Marx

For the next week, we challenge you to keep a list of at least one thing that brought you happiness each day.

I'm Happy and Thankful for many things; especially this week:
  • For all the progress on my house this week!  I'm in a 'nesting' type cleaning mood laterly! A friend told me that means I'm making room in my life for something new!  Awesome!
  • For the ability to Accept, Appreciate and Love who I am!! ;-)
"You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection." ~Buddha
It's also "ALOHA FRIDAY" Everyone!!  If you want to join in the fun? Post your own question on your blog and leave your link at the Aloha Friday post at An Island Life. Then you can visit the other participants if you wish...It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends or see what people are thinking about this week and join in a conversation or two if you like.
"If you can learn to love yourself and all the flaws, you can love other people so much better. And that makes you so happy." ~Kristin Chenoweth
My question:  Suppose you could go back in time and talk to yourself at the age of ten. What advice would you give yourself?

My answer:  That you have to Love yourself First... before you can truly fall in Love with someone else! ;-)
"You must love yourself before you love another. By accepting yourself and fully being what you are, your simple presence can make others happy." ~Author Unknown

  1. A wonderful post Coreen, I have always said that to respect someone you have to respect yourself so I guess the same goes for love.

Thanks for the comment you wrote to me yesterday, I valued it very much.

    Yvonne.

  7. I have always believed that the quality of every day is based on our attitude. We alone, and not the circumstances around us, determine how good or bad our day will be. Life is 10% what happens, and 90% how we react to it.

It's interesting that you pose the question about giving yourself advice. I've had this post idea in my head for a while now, about writing a letter to myself when I was young. I have a lot to say that kid.

  8. Hi Coreen, I could write an entire book on Happiness... I have so many things in my life which make me happy... It would be hard to choose one per day... I just love life PERIOD.

If I were 10, I'd tell myself to work hard and follow my dreams. ANYTHING is possible--if we work hard enough and believe.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  9. I would tell my 10 year old self, "Remember always that God loves you. Everything that is going to happen will shape you into who God wants you to be, because you are His child. Trust Him to work it all for you."

  10. What an interesting question. But then would I have to grow up all over again?? With the new knowledge from the future me? Then that would perhaps change the way my life has turned out, and I would never want that! Can you tell I have watched too many time travel movies? Ha ha ha.

  15. I would advise myself to be kinder and sweeter and to allow myself to be more vulnerable. Of course, none of that would have made any sense to me at 10!

I hope that you have a great weekend!!!

  16. I would tell 10 year old me not to be so serious. Have fun, enjoy your friends and family, and stop stressing over things that will not be important down the road.

  17. I'd tell 10 year old me to not feel like I needed to have a boyfriend, I would have been much better off if I hadn't been a serial dater in high school!
