My very, very good friend went with us. She is the BEST! Nicest person and so much FUN! I just love her to pieces!!
We were in Awww, at all the people, shops, restaurants and TALL Buildings. It was quite the experience for a couple of 'small town' girls. We could have stayed a week and never got bored. I would even like to move there someday.
On the first night my son took us out for real Chicago Pizza. It was the deepest, deep dish I've seen and it was so good! We also watched Chicago's pro hockey team, the Black Hawks on TV at the restaurant. They didn't win, but it was still exciting and fun to watch.
On the second day we took the 'train' to downtown Chicago. We walked all over downtown Chicago. At least it felt like 'all over', but I'm sure we only saw a fraction of the city in just one day of walking. We plan to visit often now that we have a place to stay and know people to show us around. We are going back before Christmas for sure. To see the city with all the decorations and lights. I will probably do all my Christmas shopping there too. They have so many unique stores and shops.
wow, that was a great time. I am glad you enjoyed the weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great time! I lived in Chicago way back in 1974; my oldest daughter was born there. I have not been back since leaving in 1976; but would like to visit with my daughter one day (bucket list). I am so glad the Blackhawks lost that night because I am a Philly girl and it is not looking so good for my Flyers..but I believe in miracles!
ReplyDeleteWell Miss Coreen, I had an absolutely wonderful time too, and can't wait to go back. It was quite the experience for two small town girls wasn't it. Love ya and talk to you soon.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a fabulous weekend...my niece and her husband live in Chicago, and love it! Such energy in a big city! Always something to do...and the L- is supposed to be fabulous!! Love trains!! Great photos of you! I'm sure it was hard to come home...it would have been for me...always hate for a vacation to end :-) Have a wonderful week! ~Janine XO

ReplyDeleteHi Coreen!~ Love Chicagao! THat was one of our best family vacations we ever had. We where non stop for a week. Lake Michigan is gorgeous right? I would not want to be there in the Winter though, I could see it being very windy and cold. So glad you enjoyed yourself!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your prayers and support.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
andrea
What a wonderful trip! I enjoyed hearing about your travels. Makes me want to get out and see new things!
ReplyDeleteHooray for fun vacations and deep dish pizza! I'm glad you had a fun time!
ReplyDeleteI've only been to Chicago a few times and have never had their pizza. You've made me want to go back and experience even more.
ReplyDeleteHmmm pizza, but I've got a hurting stomach now, so I should not think of that, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that you went to meet your middle son. This Mum-kid bond does a lot to get my heart fluttering :)
I've never been to chicago but looking at the pics, it must be really nice. Sounds like you had a great time. Can't wait to see what it looks like around Christmas.
ReplyDeleteNext time you get to Chicago, take one of the boat tours. They aren't too expensive and even the non-architechuarl(yes, I mangled that spelling!) tour gives a brief history of many of the cool buildings along the river. The one I took a few weeks ago then went out into the lake and had some more historical and interesting tidbits. Plus, the city looks so amazing from the lake. I've lived just north of Chicago my whole life, but it was the first time I'd seen the city from the lakefront. Oh, and go to a Cubs game. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had such a wonderful weekend with your son! Sometimes a little time away can do wonders for your spirit!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Chicago-style pizza!! My mouth started watering just reading this. :)
