Half Full & Aloha Friday!

Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence ~ Aristotle
Half Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eye Girl originally started in June 2009.  Now the it is hosted by Sprinkles at Wyldechylde.  We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us. So by participating, we are deciding to see the glass as half full, instead of half empty. We are choosing to concentrate on the positives, instead of dwelling on the negatives. Our Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that. They are a list of the things in our life that have brought us happiness over the past week. We are determined to find the something good in every day. Are you

"Our greatest happiness does not depend on the condition of life in which chance has placed us, but is always the result of a good conscience, good health, occupation, and freedom in all just pursuits." ~ Thomas Jefferson
For the next week, we challenge you to keep a list of at least one thing that brought you happiness each day.
"Be happy. It's one way of being wise.” ~ Sidonie Gabrielle
This is where I usually tell you what I'm Very Happy about this week.. however my children have asked me not to mention them, so I'll have to think of some new answers from now on... outside my usual 'mom' box.  That's going to be hard, but good for me I'm sure. :-)
  • I'm happy to have had 1 1/2 Snow days this week!  Love working for a college.  :-)
  • I'm happy for safe travel & warm clothes this week!
  • I'm happy for lots of rest!   I really needed some this week!
"Gather the crumbs of happiness and they will make you a loaf of contentment." ~ Anonymous

It's also "ALOHA FRIDAY" Everyone!!  If you want to join in the fun? Post your own question on your blog and leave your link at the Aloha Friday post at An Island Life. Then you can visit the other participants if you wish...It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends or see what people are thinking about this week and join in a conversation or two if you like.
"Don't wait for people to be friendly, show them how." ~ Author Unknown
My question:  How do you let someone know you care?

My answer:   I like to write and/or create blog post!  I know that several special people read my blog and  hopefully they know when I'm talking to them specifically. :-)

  2. Well, I'm quite up front about it! I just call them, and then tell them what I'm feeling, like I am worried about them, or I'm thinking about them. Some people always say "Let me know how I can help", but then when you need something, they are tied up, or want to do it later, so it is all juat talk with them. So I'm a firm believer of not asking, just doing it! If you are goos enough friends, you know what they need and would like. So don't ask, just bring them the groceries, or lend the money, or go sit and pray with them. Gosh, this hs turned into a lecture and I didn't mean it to be, but you bring that out in me!!

  3. I'm loving your positivity about the snow. Snow days does provide opportunities to rest.
As for your question, I am too far away from my hometown where my loved ones are. I call long distance phone whenever I can. and I try my best not forget special days.

  6. Unfortunately, I'm not very good on the phone. Wish I were better.. In my job, I had to use the phone constantly --so I think I just got burned out. Anyhow--I do a good job at sending cards. I also email and text alot--plus my blogging.

People do need to know that we care. Sometimes, just a smile helps.

  10. Lady, those are both great quotes, TJ and unknown. You really must have had some snow for your college to close :) I try to show things in small ways. Like sending a rose with no card or leaving a piece of candy in a mailbox. It is the little things you know :)

  16. Your words chose and decide are critical ones to have if you are in the happy business! It is a choice.

How do I let people know I care - well it depends on who it is and where they are - but to generalize - I try to pay attention to what my friends say and I try to be there for them -some how!

  17. I'm glad you are having a good week. I hope the weekend will continue with blessings.

I show I care by listening and sharing when I can. Sometimes I send emails, just a hug or a note to say hey, I'm praying or thinking about you.

    Stay warm!

  19. Hi Coreen, long time no see. It's been ages since I've made it by and look what I've been missing! What a great post. I did the Half Full Friday once. What a great practice it would be to do weekly. And the Aloha Friday looks like a good one, too. I'll have to check that out later on.

I'm so glad you had some time off this week to recharge your batteries.

  20. Happy Friday dear Coreen.;) Love all the happiness quotes.;)
To let someone know we care is to listen to them and be there when they need us. I think writing blog posts that speak to someone particular is a lovely way.;)
    Have a good weekend,
    xoxo
